Setting out for Samarpanam Publicity Stunt 2011!!

January28

SPICS is back with more updates!

Our club had actively participated in the publicity stunt that was meant for our hugely awaited annual drama production, SAMARPANAM(: It’s a planned event that was to attract the public’s attention, mainly the Indian crowd, to the event itself and its organizers.

We went down to areas such as Little India, Tekka Mall & other areas that were concentrated with Indians. Our beloved members had put together effort in designing & producing the posters meant for promoting Samarpanam and gathering sponsors. We’re extremely glad over the good response we received and we take this opportunity to sincerely thank the sponsors again who have supported our event(:

Alright folks! That’s all for today’s post! Stay tuned for more updates! Till then, take care(:

SPICS CAMP 2011 – 12/06/11

October17

HOLA! We’re back with the final updates of the ICS Camp Day 2 & what a blast it was! The second day of our rocking camp was the best experience yet! We continued the camp with more challenging & thrilling games as you can see in the first few photos above. Later into the morning, it started to rain & that’s not good news at all! It got the camp committee really worried but thanks to our ever-so-dedicated Games IC, they had reserved a back-up plan for bad weather days. They successfully managed the changes to be made & in the end, the rain made the whole atmosphere even more enjoyable! As later in the noon, we had wet games such as TUG-OF-WAR at the field! That was a “must watch” game that took place. The whole area was wet & the cool climate made it more enjoyable. It was incredibly fun, wet, thrilling & it was really challenging as we spiced up the battle by spraying hose-water at the players!

As the games came to an end, everyone was craving for food! Our campers had no idea what their loving camp committees had planned for lunch! Profound flavours, striking colours, healing ingredients are the simple facts about Indian food. So are the facts about our very own Banana Leaf Feast that day! It was a well-deserved treat that we gave our campers for the blasting enthusiasm & participation they showed throughout the camp.

Soon as the night sky rolled over, the sound of bangles dancing with each other, the sight of elegantly dressed-up Indian ladies & groomed gentlemen, the DJ & the dance floor all set for the moment everyone had been waiting for. The Performance Night of ICS Camp 2011! The theme for the night was retro-bling-bling! All the hard work & preparation were paid off as all groups had presented their skit really well. The skits were full of suspense, drama & dance performances! These skits were judged by three of our seniors & awards were given out to the best skits. Additionally, we also presented the overall best campers awards.

The performance night also marked the end of a fruitful journey to the ICS Committee of 2010. It was a night filled with utter joy, a sense of fulfilment but more importantly, the joy of a great bond shared among the ICS Family. Everyone witnessed the blossom of a new beginning as the presidency was passed on from Alfazid to Meena. The performance night ended with a rocking dance floor where we all danced to our heart’s content.

So there you go! Yet another exciting story of the SPICS revealed! We hope you had a great read & till the next story unfolds, stay tuned & take care(;

SPICS CAMP 2011 – 11/06/11

October17

HOLA! Missed us much folks? Well, guess what! We’re back once again with more fantastic updates!

It is a place where you can find wonderful friends & get fascinated by the Indian culture!  It is a place to make new friendships through adventurous activities that require tough team work! It is a golden chance to explore the unexplored! Yes, my friends, it’s THE ICS CAMP 2011!!!

On the 11th & 12th of June earlier this year, ICS organized a 2 days camp for our beloved freshmen of 2011. It wasn’t just a normal camp but a BOMBASTIC one that had passed. It was a camp that created lasting memories for everyone. J

On day one, after gathering & grouping our freshmen, our Camp Chief started off the camp with a welcoming speech & a briefing of our camp journey. The groups had to come up with their team name, cheer as well as a logo. As they were presenting their cheers, we were astonished seeing how dynamic our freshies were! It totally pumped up everyone’s mood for the day! Throughout the whole day, we had fun-filled games as you can see in the photos. AND of course, what is a camp without AMAZING RACE right people? We had a super fantastic amazing race guided by the ‘Angels & Devils’ theme! The amazing race started at 7pm which made the whole experience an adventurous one as the surroundings got darker. Throughout the day, there were a few breaks in between where groups would get together to plan for the big performance night which everyone had attended on the second day of camp. No worries! More updates on that coming up in the next post! Stay tuned!

Annual General Meeting(AGM) – 060711

October17

VANAKAM, NAMASTE, SASRIKAL & NAMASKARAM to all out there! Guess what?! We’re back with more exciting updates on SPICS’s events!!

Earlier this year, on the 6th of July 2011, SPICS Committee organized the prestigious Annual General Meeting (AGM). Ladies & gentlemen who attended the AGM that afternoon included our alumni, current members of the club & not forgetting, our beloved freshies.

The aim of the AGM is to give our members a general & detailed outlook of our upcoming events & also, what our club has achieved till date. To achieve these, we prepared PowerPoint slides featuring the info of club & supporting photos of club activities.

This year’s AGM started off with the presentation of the Certificates of Appreciation to all Alumnis. This was initiated by SPICS’s committee of 2011. There was a sense of fulfilment & joy glowing from the faces of our dearest seniors upon receiving the certificates.

The following activity that took place after this was an important moment for all. It was a moment which marked a new beginning in the history of SPICS. Yes, I am referring to the handing over of responsibilities to the next committee. 2011’s committee is undoubtedly a dynamic team who are committed to the well-being of the club & its success. Furthermore, our committee is totally pumped up as it’s our Silver Jubilee year!! & this means we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary with a Grand Samarpanam Musical!! Excited much people?? Alright! Let’s not get carried away by this exciting news now and move on to AGM’s next activity.

After the introduction of our new committee, our new president, Meena, together with her two VPs started off with the main presentation of the AGM. They covered important matters such as the club rules & series of upcoming events for 2011. The presentation was wrapped up with a short motivational speech by Mahendran, our beloved director of Samarpanam 2011.

Apart from all these activities, we all had a really awesome evening after the AGM re-uniting with our ever-so beloved alumnis. It was sure an event filled with so many memories to be cherished… (:

Alright folks! That’s all for today’s post! Stay tuned for more updates yeah? Till then, take care!

Welcome Party 2011

May15

SPICS is back with updates! “SPICS Welcome party 2011″. This extravaganza happened on the 4th of May 2011. The aim of the Welcome Party was to bond the existing members of ICS and the Freshmen together. Not just this but to also let them know what Indian Cultural Society is all about such as the activities we engage in, the events we took part/will take part in, information on the various community service projects, and much more.

Our president Alfazid gave an open introductory speech and kick started this event. We prepared powerpoint slides and a compilation of videos of various events we took part in to give them a rough outlook of what we have done. As soon as this was done, it was time for “GAMES”. All of us took part in the games. There was dance, forfeit rounds and much much more. Most of all, we had lots of fun together. And the freshies were great with it. I should say that they are certainly a very sporting group. And i am sure they enjoyed it very much and got all the information about our club. All went well.

After the event, it was ” Makan Time” and that is when the freshies got to know each other, chit chatted and snapped alot of happy moments. Welcome Party is usually a start to give relevant information on our ICS. The main event would definitely be the upcoming ” ICS CAMP” that will be held in June! All the freshies are welcomed. Alot of preparatory work is going on. More updates on ICS Camp is coming up so stay close with us..Till then, Take Care!!!

CCA Open House 2011

May10

Amigos!!! Singapore Polytechnic’s CCA Open House 2011 just ended successfully on 27th, 28th and 29th of April. The process and end product was definitely more than just great i should say. SPICS targeted to attract more freshmen into our club this year compared to last year. And over these three days, it was definitely a success. The journey was pretty exciting for us. Members of SPICS took turns everyday to be at the ICS booth, whilst the others went around the campus to invite the freshies. We explained to them briefly about what Indian Cultural Society is all about, the reason they should join our family and what activities/events we took part and will take part in. This year around 80 freshies have joined us which is two times more than last year. Isn’t that great to even hear?!!

EXAMSSS!!! Arghhh….

March7

Hey!!! Hope you guys are doing great:-) Just before we continue to take you through samarpanam’s journey….Here’s something… Exams just ended..
Well, after our samarpanam…We were back to studying. Exams were nearing so we had to of course keep aside all our enjoyable moments and work hard to excel in our studies. We would meet up with our friends at study corners and study together. In that way we could clear our doubts with each other. We preferred this much more than studying at home alone. Our ics room was definitely a good place to study too.. So some of us would spend the day studying here as well. Tutoring is one thing our seniors did.During the exam period, our seniors never failed or hesitated to help us. We were very happy at heart. Working together, one by one, our papers ended. So now the only thing we are waiting for is our results. “Lub Dub Lub Dub”…Can u hear it?? Each of us, hoping for good results. :-) Have a great day ahead u’ll!!! Stay tune for more updates!!! Cheers:-)

Samarpanam Feel the Love Part 3

February17

Alright before we all start gearing up for the semestral examinations, lets take a go at a blog to bring out the love once more and all over again.

Three weeks of holidays came to end soon. When school resumed, our practices reduced. Three days a week. But by then, we were slowly getting a hang of our responsibilities of what we had to do. And now it was time to juggle both our studies and practices. But it was not a difficult thing at all as, we stayed focused, did our thing and most of all we had fun. After our lessons, we would make our way to our dance studio and start practicing. We gradually did full-dress rehearsals. Samarpanam was nearing and nearing. Days passed like clouds. Mixed emotions took over us. Anxiety grabbed us. But our goal was never down. And this is when we needed motivation. Our director, president and the rest were always motivating us and as the big day approached they encouraged us even further. This kept us going. We did the same to our friends.
The eclectic mix of love that did the magic!
